Reef Fishing

On this trip, you'll be going after several different species at the reef or wrecks : from yellowtail snapper, mackerel, yellow jack, African pompano , groupers. Or inshore for snook , tarpon , mangrove snapper or Goliath grouper, lemon sharks and more . All of our reef fishing trips are within sight of land (usually 5 miles or less), if you are uncomfortable with traveling far offshore, this may be the option for you.

The Florida Keys are a premier destination for reef fishing, thanks to their unique status as the home of the only living coral reefs in the United States. These vibrant reefs host over 500 species of fish, including snapper, grouper, and sailfish. Here’s a quick guide to some of the prized catches in the area:

  • Mutton Snapper: A delicious fish commonly found on the reef.
  • Mangrove Snapper: Available year-round, but the best time to catch them is during the summer spawn.
  • Yellowtail Snapper: A South Florida favorite that lives in large schools around shallow reefs. They have sharp eyesight, so a light line and careful presentation are essential for a successful catch.
  • Grouper: These massive fish can grow up to 8 feet long and weigh over 800 pounds, offering a true challenge for anglers.
  • Sailfish: A highly sought-after game fish found in shallower Atlantic waters where coral reefs meet the open ocean.
